Halloween Red Baked Brie (Print-Friendly Version)

Melty brie in flaky pastry, topped with blood-red jam—perfect for easy, dramatic Halloween entertaining.

# What You'll Need:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 1 wheel brie cheese (approximately 225 g)
02 - 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed if frozen

→ Egg Wash

03 - 1 egg
04 - 2 tablespoons water or milk

→ Filling and Garnish

05 - 120 ml red fruit preserves (raspberry, cherry, or cranberry jam)
06 - 2 tablespoons honey (optional)
07 - 1 teaspoon fresh thyme or rosemary (optional)
08 - 25 g chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
09 - Pinch of salt

# How to Make It:

01 - Preheat oven to 190°C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or use a small cast-iron skillet.
02 - On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry to smooth and ensure it is large enough to fully enclose the brie.
03 - Place brie in the center of the pastry. Spoon 2–3 tablespoons of red preserves onto the top. Optionally, sprinkle with nuts and herbs.
04 - Fold the pastry over the brie, gathering at the top and pinching to seal.
05 - In a small bowl, whisk egg with water or milk. Brush the pastry with the egg wash for a glossy finish.
06 - Transfer the wrapped brie to the prepared baking sheet or skillet and bake for 20–25 minutes, until pastry is puffed and deep golden brown.
07 - Allow to cool for 5 minutes. Warm the remaining red jam, then drizzle over the baked brie, letting it drip down the sides.
08 - Transfer to a platter or serve in the skillet. Offer with crackers, toasted baguette slices, or apple wedges.

# Additional Tips:

01 - For the most striking effect, use raspberry or cranberry preserves for vivid colour.
02 - Maintain puff pastry well chilled until ready to use for best handling and maximum flakiness.
03 - The brie can be wrapped up to several hours ahead and refrigerated until baking time.
04 - Pair with robust red wines, mulled cider, or themed Halloween cocktails for an elevated experience.
