01 -
Preheat the oven to 190°C. Lightly grease a 33x23 cm baking dish with cooking spray or olive oil.
02 -
Warm olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook for 5 to 7 minutes, breaking up the meat until fully browned. Drain excess fat if necessary.
03 -
Stir in chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes until onion is soft and fragrant. Remove skillet from heat.
04 -
Spread the beef, onion, and garlic mixture evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
05 -
Arrange the thin potato slices over the beef in slightly overlapping layers for even cooking.
06 -
Evenly sprinkle salt, black pepper, dried Italian seasoning, and paprika over the potato layer.
07 -
Scatter shredded cheddar and grated Parmesan evenly over the top.
08 -
Pour beef broth or water gently around the edges of the dish. For extra creaminess, drizzle milk over the top layer before covering.
09 -
Cover dish tightly with aluminium foil. Bake for 30 minutes to soften the potatoes.
10 -
Remove foil and continue baking for 15 to 20 minutes until potatoes are tender and cheese is golden and bubbling.
11 -
Sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley if desired. Serve hot from the oven.
