Bourbon-Maple Brisket Waffle Sandwich (Print-Friendly Version)

Sweet maple, brisket, gooey cheese, and crisp waffles combine for an unforgettable savory sandwich twist.

# What You'll Need:

→ Waffle Batter

01 - 180 g all-purpose flour
02 - 1 tablespoon baking powder
03 - 1 teaspoon fine salt
04 - 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
05 - 375 ml whole milk
06 - 80 ml vegetable oil
07 - 1 large egg

→ Filling and Assembly

08 - 2 cups (about 350 g) cooked brisket, shredded
09 - 60 ml pure maple syrup
10 - 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
11 - 4 slices mature cheddar cheese or Swiss cheese
12 - 4 slices thick-cut bread
13 - Butter, for greasing

# How to Make It:

01 - In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar until evenly combined.
02 - In a separate bowl, whisk the milk, vegetable oil, and egg until fully blended.
03 - Pour the liquid mixture into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just blended; a few lumps are acceptable to prevent overmixing.
04 - In a medium mixing bowl, combine the shredded brisket with maple syrup and Dijon mustard. Toss until the brisket is evenly coated.
05 - Preheat the waffle iron according to the manufacturer's instructions and lightly grease with butter or nonstick spray.
06 - Pour sufficient batter into the preheated waffle iron to just cover the surface. Close the lid and cook for about 5 minutes, or until the waffles are crisp and golden brown. Repeat with the remaining batter.
07 - Place a cheese slice on one waffle, top with half of the brisket mixture, then another slice of cheese. Cap with a second waffle.
08 - Heat a skillet over medium. Melt a small amount of butter. Add the assembled waffle sandwich and cook for 3–4 minutes per side until cheese is melted and exterior is golden.
09 - Remove from skillet, slice sandwich in half, and serve warm.

# Additional Tips:

01 - Allow the waffles to cool slightly before assembling to prevent excess moisture inside the sandwich.
