Bacon Egg Tater Tot Casserole (Print-Friendly Version)

Tater tots, bacon, and eggs baked with two cheeses create a hearty, crowd-pleasing breakfast favorite.

# What You'll Need:

→ Hearty Base

01 - 900 grams frozen tater tots
02 - 8 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
03 - 8 large eggs
04 - 240 millilitres whole milk
05 - 1/2 teaspoon salt
06 - 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
07 - 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard powder (optional)
08 - 100 grams shredded cheddar cheese
09 - 100 grams shredded Monterey Jack cheese or pepper jack cheese
10 - 25 grams green onions, chopped (optional)
11 - Butter or nonstick spray for greasing baking dish

# How to Make It:

01 - Preheat oven to 175°C. Grease a 23x33-centimetre baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.
02 - Arrange frozen tater tots evenly in a single layer across the base of the prepared baking dish.
03 - Whisk together eggs, whole milk, salt, black pepper, and dry mustard powder if using in a large mixing bowl until fully combined.
04 - Sprinkle cooked, crumbled bacon evenly over the tater tots, then top with shredded cheddar and Monterey Jack or pepper jack cheese.
05 - Slowly pour the whisked egg mixture evenly over the assembled layers, ensuring it seeps between tater tots and cheese.
06 - Optionally, scatter chopped green onions on top. Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes until eggs are fully set and surface is golden brown.
07 - Remove from the oven and let stand for 5–10 minutes to allow for clean slicing before serving.

# Additional Tips:

01 - Letting the dish rest after baking ensures firmer portions that hold their shape.
02 - Blending two cheese types creates a deeper, richer flavour profile.
03 - Tater tots absorb portions of the egg mixture, resulting in a well-bound and satisfying texture.
